Allstate Concept

THE CATALYST FOR MAYHEM PREVENTION

I applied for a position with Allstate and this concept is meant to show them the work I’m capable of. In 2023, there were over 26,000 catalytic converter thefts reported. The number of thefts decreased since 2020 and 2021, but still are a major issue to car owners nationwide. The top vehicles targeted are:

◾ Ford F-series

◾ Honda Accord

◾ Toyota Prius

◾ Honda CR-V

◾ Ford Explorer

◾ Ford Econoline

◾ Chevrolet Equinox

◾ Chevrolet Silverado

◾ Toyota Tacoma

◾ Chevrolet Cruze

Allstate partners with an auto manufacturer developing “good hands” metal on the underside of vehicles that with catalytic converters. This metal will attach to the vehicle’s factory-mounting points, making it much harder to remove for criminals. Some metal options are:

• Hardened steel
• Chrome moly
• High strength steels
• Heat treated steels

Mayhem would be the catalytic converter thief. Here’s how the commercial would go:

VideoAudio
Camera starts focused on a driveway with a parked car either in the middle of the night, or the middle of the day which would add to the brazenness of Mayhem’s thievery.

Cut to Mayhem (attempting to saw off the catalytic converter, after a little time, he finds he can’t cut it off)

(Flashlight shines on Mayhem’s face)

Super fills screen: Disclaimer about the “Good Hands Unit”

Camera cuts back to Dennis
Mayhem: “Oh, didn’t see you there (referring to the viewer). Just go back to bed. I’m busy putting my steely nerves to good use. But for some reason I can’t get this catalytic converter off.”

Dennis Haysbert (holding flashlight): “You won’t be able to.”
Dean Winters (Mayhem): “Who are you?”
Dennis Haysbert: “You know who I am.”
Dean Winters (Mayhem): Looks at camera confused.
Dennis Haysbert: “You can’t steal that catalytic converter because it’s protected by Allstate’s “Good Hands Unit.”
Dean Winters (Mayhem): “The what?!”

Dennis Haysbert: “With Allstate’s ‘Good Hands Unit’, you can sleep a little easier knowing you’re protected from Mayhem, like him.” [Points to Mayhem]

Dennis Haysbert: “Are you in good hands?”

The benefit: Allstate would generate even more positive press from the creation of a product that gives potentially millions of customers greater peace of mind. And generate significant revenue from the sales of the product and policies brought on by the goodwill amongst new customers.
